This tres leches cake, originating in Sinaloa (northwestern Mexico) features ‘rompope’, a Mexican vanilla/rum liqueur. The tres leches mixture (evaporated milk, condensed milk and whole milk) is heated with the liqueur and then poured over the hot vanilla cake. The cake itself is layered with bavarian cream and frosted with a light whipped cream, dusted with a cinnamon powder and garnished with dark chocolate lattice.
