Don’t be fooled by this familiar shape! While it may look like the traditional Mexican concha, this pan de canela (cinnamon bread) has a completely different taste and texture inside. It is dense, but when flavored with freshly ground stick of cinnamon – delicious!
Pan de canela is not only one of our best sellers, in Mexico it is also a favorite, especially dipped in milk or eaten with coffee. In fact, there are many shapes of this cinnamon bread base with different finishes – guisanos (“worms”) sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and croissants, wrapped in the buttery sugar topping, to name a few.
Keep your eye out in future weeks for a cinnamon bread with a different twist!
